not-so-funny poop
Boy has this been a rough week for Duke. JJ laying a fucking egg in the tourney (as he steadily slipped down next year’s draft board), a dead body popping up on campus, the city of Durham effectively ending the season for the laxers before an arrest has even been made…damn shit is getting dirty. Currently, the campus is in limbo, holding their collective breath for the DNA results that were scheduled to come out Sunday afternoon. This is no pussy SAE date rape. We are talking about some serious, pound-you-in-the-ass prison time if they can manage to pin the kids. And no one from Duke is supposed to go to jail.

Besides potentially ruining the lives of whoever they deem responsible, the alleged rape is on the verge of ending the season for the national title contending lacrosse team. For the team’s sake, I hope the police move quickly in making an arrest. Until then, I can only see Duke putting up forfeits. The city of Durham has made it perfectly clear that it feels the lacrosse team is guilty as not-yet charged. I am not going to lie, based on what has transpired it is hard not to immediately come to the same conclusion. At the same time, the people of Durham are starting to piss me off. What happened to innocent until proven guilty, this is fucking America here remember? No no, those silly rights only matter when they are protecting your own ass, right. It shouldn’t be that hard to understand, they are on a team…no one is going to talk, or not at least until the DNA results are back. People, we are all shocked and horrified by the allegations, but I personally would like to see some forensic evidence before we continue ruining the lives of the entire team.

By the way, does anyone care that THEY FOUND A FUCKING DEAD BODY ON THE TRAINTRACKS.

No, apparently not. We are all too captivated with the implosion of our precious lacrosse team.

I have to say I feel for the rest of the team. The kids who know the truth, whatever it may be, are all going through the most intense moral decision they have probably ever faced in their entire lives. I don’t envy their position. How do you ask a someone to be the one to cross the lines and blow a whistle, honestly. Let more than the stripper's allegations come out before you fry 'dem bitches, k?

Alright I’m done.
- yours truly

ps. It's 3 Am and I had some thoughts, im tired, and dying to sleep. fuck you if you dare talk about my grammar, losers.

The national championship?

Are you fucking kidding me? Who gives a fuck about the national championship in lacrosse? The shit that (allegedly) went down is such a huge black eye on the entire university that ten fucking LAX titles wouldn't make up for the damage done. The saddest thing is that this doesn't really surprise anyone, the LAX team has been so out of control for so long that I think many people just figured it was a matter of time. Everyone I talk to has a horror story of their own about things the LAX team did to or around them. I hope this shit isn't true, but either way the LAXers are horrible people and their coach should get fired for exerting zero control over his team. (By the way, whether or not they raped that girl, the next door neighbors could hear racial slurs coming out of the house, so at best this incident is a twisted, sadistic, racist incident and the stripper is just trying to get them back for being back for a humiliating and horrifying experience.)

The dude they found didn't appear to have been murdered, so it's not THAT big of a deal (of course it's horrible for the family, but it doesn't reflect badly on Duke/Durham).
Yeah, the lacrosse situation is fucked up. I just hope they find the guys who did it, expel their asses and send 'em to prison stat. The worst case scenario is that this becomes an agonizingly long trial—all Duke needs right now, during college admissions season, is to turn off applicants with a bunch of racist rapist retards. Don't get me wrong, I want to see the twisted fucks behind bars, but I didn't come here so the school's national reputation could be racked by scandal—if I wanted that I could have gone to UMiami and at least had a club scene and better weather.

"intense moral decision"? Are you fucking kidding me? If deciding whether or not to cooperate with police in a rape/assault/strangulation investigation when you have knowledge of who was involved, is an 'intense moral decision', then you have absolutely NO morals whatsoever. Lying and protecting rapists makes you equally guilty. You and every idiot male at Duke who thinks like you, make me realize that there's no way I'll be accepting Duke's offer of admission for the fall. Ugh. Sickening.

Wait for the story to come out...

Look, it really annoys me that a bunch of upper-middle class morons who couldn't break a 1200 on their SAT got into this school to play a non-revenue sport that no one gives a shit about.

However, the entire story has not come out yet. Is there any official source verifying that the stripper was badly beaten and spent nights in the hospital? This is merely what she alleges. I have heard from a pretty dependable source (with no relationship to the lacrosse team)that when the stripper was testifying to the police, she had almost no cuts on her body and did not look bruised at all. Certainly rape is a serious allegation, and this is why the police tested 46 members of the lacrosse team despite these inconsistencies, but this case is not as cut and dry as some of you think (wish).

It seems as if the strippers were not pleased with how the events turned out that night, and as a result, they tried to get some revenge on the players. I wouldn't be surprised at all if "Adam, Bret, and Matt" were merely the three players in charge of paying the strippers and were named as the rapists because they were the only three names the strippers knew.

I think that this website should be shut down because it misrepresents the Duke students as immoral, vulgar, cynical. It is true that the whole lacrosse scandal does just that as well, but take a step back and read some of the posts on this forum. You all are entitled to express your opinion, but do so with some respect and tact. It is not fair to the rest of the Duke community to be broadcasted over the internet as a spoiled and foul bunch. Please have some pride in your school, and realize how lucky you all are to be here. You are only hurting yourself by badmouthing Duke; and if you all really think it is that bad, then either take a stand and do something about it, or fill out your transfer forms.

The son was mentally ill, which is a very torturous and difficult disease of the brain. It is heartbreaking for the family who has likely spent many years trying to help their son through this terrible struggle. Nobody talks about it because some things are just too hard to talk about until you get past the initial grief and sorrow of a lost child. Beyond that, it is a private family matter that we have no "right" to know about just because we are involved in the Duke community. These parents need all the support and kindness we can offer them.

This is just for everyone who is badmouthing all of the "innocent" guys on the team who haven't stepped up and said anything. You need to put your self in the shoes of those people. Here are guys that have been living together for the past few years, who have bonded through hard practice and wins and losses out on the field, and who have grown to become brothers to each other. Now, no matter what your opinion of them, even if you hate the LAX guys, put yourself in there situation. If you had a brother or other family member in the same circumstances, would you turn them in? You probably would get pissed and yell at them, etc etc, but would you really be able to go to the police and give them up? No, you wouldn't. So before you go and badmouth the kids who should be "stepping up", put yourself in there situation, and really try to picture what you would do. Now by saying this im not saying that if these accusations are true that there shouldn't immiediate and decisive action, but we still live in the US, so im sticking with innocent until proven guilty.

Time to confess!" and "you can't run, you can't hide, there's nothing to do but testify" off of cue cards, and the reporter tells you, if you weren't already aware, that pots and pans "are the tools women have in their kitchens." Bad news for the Lacrosse Team, The District Attorney in charge of this case (Mike Nifong) is currently running for re-election this May. If charges are pressed and it goes to trial, I think of no better press for his campaign than him riding his white horse of justice to the rescue of a poor victim of a hate crime, by finding and burying the perpetrators. He'll get the minority vote and the liberal vote. This would be his first prosecution since 1999 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He will no doubt be seeking maximum sentences and/or penalties for those accused to prove to the community that he is still a capable District Attorney.

as has already been discussed below- we're fucked. duke is fucked. this is a public relations nightmare for duke. ad it certainly doesnt help that Nifong is running for re-election.

now we have to think about ourselves: how do we salvage our schools reputation? how duke is seen is going to matter to us when we apply for jobs, go back home etc.
but the most important thing is this years incoming freshmen class. WE CANNOT LET THEM THINK THAT ALL THE KIDS AT DUKE ARE LIKE THOSE FUCKTARD LAXERS. given the tendency for pre-frosh's to blow things out of proportion/get worried over the smallest things (anyone remember the Toga party? and the toga party death threats?)

i think this could hurt Duke bad, real bad.

so we all basically need to go out of our way to show the pre frosh's that we're not like what we're being projected as. AND THE RAPES OCCURED DURING MINORTY RECRUITMENT WEEKEND. (it just couldnt get worse).

so its time we ended this stupid cliquishness. black-black, indian-desi, white-white.

at the end of the day we're all Duke students. we're the shit.

T
his girl can thank the fact that she's at Duke, because if Duke really didn't give a shit about black people, it wouldn't admit them, let alone seek them out, offer African-American studies classes, and offer scholarships.

Disagree with someone's opinion you can, but do you need to call the woman who voiced her opinion a whore? I am truly saddend that a member of this student body is so ignorant and infantile in their vocabulary that they can not respectfully state their opinions and ideas on a blog. This is a shame, considering that DUKE is a school of such prestige.
In response to your comment, show me a school who doesn't admit black students or offer minority scholarships. I bet it would take you a long time to find it. I'm not saying that Duke does not care about black students, but neither am I saying that it necessarily does. When you are making statements about admissions and scholarships, please note that across the board ALL universities are BUSINESSES and care about IMAGE and doing what is best to keep the money coming in. So by having a more diverse campus(i. e. admitting black students and offering scholarships) this makes Duke look better.

For anyone more worried about the championship hopes for the Lax team, please note that their games on Saturday and Tuesday were considered "no contest" and will not count as a win or loss for either team. According to NCAA rules these will be as if they were never scheduled.

Names on the warrant

Just FYI, names on search warrants are always pseudonyms. The three names people keep throwing around are not supposed to be the names of players on the team -- that seems like some kind of oversight to me.

what about the other woman??

so there were TWO strippers at the LAX house that night. one allegedly was raped in the bathroom, but what happened to the other one? why hasnt she spoken? she should know the entire story?

(i might be missing something- maybe she went home early?)

but if she was there shouldnt she talk? it seems weird.

im glad someone finally brought that up. the second stripper has totally disappeared apparently. i find it a little bizarre that the one person who could validate the stripper's story (or the laxers') has gone missing. in my mind, she's both the eyewitness and the missing link...

There are some things that you guys are saying that is truly bothering me. First of all, i myself am a Duke student, and I personally know many of the LAX players. With that said, I do not think it is fair to see this female as just a stripper (or a hooker as one person put it). She is also a mother of two and a college student herself. Some Duke students may look down upon her for the way she chooses to pay her tuition and support her family, but don't think for a second that she or anyone else that doesn't go here holds Duke students on a pedestal. They look down on us too. Also, it isn't fair to stereotype the LAX players. They may have done things in the past, but that doesn't mean they were predisposed to rape someone. They may have done it, they may not have. Being a LAX player doesn't make you an instant rapist, just like being a Duke student doesn't mean that you would never rape a person. Being a stripper doesn't make you a whore, hooker, or slut. At the same time, it does not make you a trustworthy angel. Everyone is jumping to conclusions, we should just sit back and let the situation play out.
Also, who cares about Duke's image? Why should we think about Duke. Duke is not important in this matter. If I don't get a job because of this incident, then I don't want to work for that company. When this is over some people's lives are going to be ruined, whether its the LAX players or stripper. Those that are saying "think about Duke". are just trying to find a way to get themselves involved. Guess what THIS DOESN'T INVOLVE US.

the unfortunate truth of this matter is those of us who know and hang out with these certain lacrosse players were not surprised when we heard about this. Obviously, they are some extremely disturbing and horrific allegations that I wish no one was capable of actually doing, but these guys accused are plain and simple not good guys. They frequently get drunk at one of their houses and become violent and belligerent. They are also very aggressive when drunk and I wouldnt be surprised if this is the first time one of them has done some sort of sexual assault, but the girls werent brave enough to come forward. I hope that whatever happens, justice is served but it makes me very sad to realize that some of those boys had it coming ((READ: NOT ALL, a few are such good guys that it hurts to watch them go through this and if you know them, you know who i am talking about)). Its a terrible way to learn a lesson but for some of those boys, their continual racism and generally obnoxious unacceptable behavior was bound to get them in trouble soon enough.

If that's true about search warrants, why would the police use all names that are the same as members of the lacrosse team, one of which is relatively uncommon (Adam) and one which is extremely uncommon (Bret with one t)? I don't know much about the legal system but I sincerely doubt they would choose those names rather than "Tom, Dick, and Harry" if they're pseudonyms. Does anyone know the right answer about the names used on search warrants?

This District Attorney Should Fry

Attached below are the most ridiculous quotations I have ever seen a DA or even a defense attorney make so early in an investigation. At no point does the DA use the word "alleged" while talking about the accusation. In addition, he talks blatant shit to a bunch of kids while attempting to impute knowledge in them about the ALLEGED events at the party that VERY WELL MAY NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. He's a double tarheel, democrat who is up for re-election. While I am reserving judgment on the guilt of the lacrosse players until the investigation is more thorough (as the DA should), I feel confident judging this DA now as a biased, politically-motivated, unjust individual.

From the NY TIMES...

Michael B. Nifong, the Durham County district attorney, criticized team members for not coming forward.

"The thing that most of us found so abhorrent, and the reason I decided to take it over myself, was the combination gang-like rape activity accompanied by the racial slurs and general racial hostility," Mr. Nifong said Tuesday in a telephone interview.

"There are three people who went into the bathroom with the young lady, and whether the other people there knew what was going on at the time, they do now and have not come forward. I'm disappointed that no one has been enough of a man to come forward. And if they would have spoken up at the time, this may never have happened."

Just remember that these are quotations that have been edited by a news source. He very well may have made statements in conjunction with those presented in the article that could have clarified that they were allegations. Be careful not to put 100% faith in the media's portrayal of ANYTHING.
